Back In The Gym

You have probably experienced it, or maybe not, when you are back in the gym again after the holiday and everything goes wrong. This time was no exception.
I am not that person who takes a rest week in order to recover, because that simply does not work for me. My nutrition is probably not 100% perfect, but I always lose some intensity after one week off.

This time I first started at the bench, because the squat rack was occupied.
I started with an empty in order to warm up, and to no ones surprise that actually went well. After that I put on some more weight and did a couple of reps before I put on, what I thought, was my usual workout weigh. To my surprise that went fairly easy and i did 5 reps easily.
Some minutes later when I was on my last set I found the weight to be too easy so I took a look and of course, I had loaded 70% of the weight I should be lifting in order to follow the 5x5 stronglift program.

So, after I had just "waisted" 15min on the bench I went over to the squat rack.
Here I did the same and gradually increased the weight in order to warm up. Finally I could also put the yellow plates on when doing squats, that was pretty fun:)
So on my third set of squatting, after stretching out a little bit to, what can I say, aggressively... I went down in the squat position and felt a pull on my hamstrings, in fact so bad that I could no finish my last two sets.
If this happens to you or you feel any form of pain, stop immediately. It is a signal from your body to stop doing what you are doing.
My experience is that if you listen to the signals your body is sending you, you wont get badly injured.

Then to the barbell row.
Here everything actually went fine, so no complaints here:)

So what did we learn in this article?
Nothing... absolutely nothing, only me complaining about my workout.
Or actually we learned one thing - listen to your body.
It is simple, but not everyone does it and therefor get injured - not you!
