You know those people who say they cant do squats or deadliest or other exercises, maybe even you are one of them. If you are experiencing pain when performing one type of exercise we all know what is the easiest option, blame the exercise and substitute it. - But is that really the best option?
If there is one exercise where you feel strain or pain when performing, I do not recommend doing that exercise before you have figured out and corrected the cause that is causing the pain. Pain does not always equal gains, with other words forget about "no pain no gain".
So if you cant do an exercise what should you do?
You should not drop the exercise, you should find what is causing the pain and how you can avoid that pain. There are two, things that can cause pain.
The first one is bad form/technique. This is probably the easiest one to correct, you simply have to study the movement and do it until you have mastered the movement. One tip here is to lower the weight. By lowering the weight you can perform the movement slower, which gives you the ability to watch your technique. A workout parter could also be a great idea.
The second thing that can cause the injury is muscle imbalances. To tight hamstrings? Overdeveloped Quads? Hunched over back?
Those three and many more are common muscle imbalances that can cause pain.
By correcting muscle imbalances you will set your body up for maximum performance.
Which muscles you have to stretch or strengthen, you have to find out for yourself.
There is not much I can do, except from leaving you with an article about correcting and getting rid of muscle imbalances. To read the article, click here.
Hope you got an idea of what you can do, to improve those exercises on which you are struggling or experiencing pain. Remember to don`t blame the exercise, blame yourself:)
